Number Day 2020
Date: 6th Feb 2020 @ 7:08pm
Today we have had a fantastic number day in class.
We started our day with a visit from the NSPCC. They talked about the different worries we might have and how we can deal with them by speaking to a trusted adult or by ringing 0800 1111.
Following the talk, we went outside to start our maths activities. Our first activity required us to use our times tables knowledge to find the matching cones. During this activity the children used their knowledge of multiplication facts and multiplication methods to solve the different sums. We then used our multiplication facts to solve 2-digit x 1-digit multiplication sums using the grid method with chalk.
After break we continued our maths fun outside. It was time for the relay races with a twist. The children had to run to a cone and shout out the relating times table and answer e.g. if it was the 3rd cone the children shouted out 3 x 5 = 15.
To end the day, we had a mystery to solve. We had to work out who was the new captain of the pirate ship. This required us to solve different problems relating to ordering numbers, multiplication and division, time and inverse operations to collect all the clues. It was great fun, but very tricky!
