Curriculum Overview

We have agreed a long-term plan for each class. This indicates what subjects are to be taught in each term, and to which groups of children. Through the themes and individual subject areas we encourage our children to have enquiring minds, to question, to be curious and excited about their learning so that they develop the skills and knowledge needed to function in today’s world. We provide opportunities for our children to move beyond being passive recipients of knowledge to become knowledge builders with the skills and dispositions capable of creative and innovative problem solving. To make learning as interesting and meaningful as possible for the children, our curriculum themes start with an enquiry question. We encourage our children to develop expertise in all area thorough meaningful and purposeful opportunities featuring local people, local places and interesting local facts.
